Iranian President Ibrahim Raisi stressed, in a call with Prime Minister Mustafa Al-Kazemi, on Wednesday, that the unity and stability of Iraq is a strategic issue and that it should not be compromised.
Raisi pointed out the importance of the historical and close relations between the two countries, noting that "Iran has always stood by the Iraqi people and the Iraqi government."
He added that "the enemies of the peoples of the region do not want security, stability and progress for the Iraqi people, and they are pursuing their evil goals by provoking sedition, so everyone should pay attention to such conspiracies."
He considered that "it is necessary to use all energies in order to establish peace and stability in Iraq."
He continued: "We consider the principle of elections as an important achievement to arbitrate the sovereignty of the Iraqi people over their destiny, and we have always stressed the need to determine the fate of peoples through the ballot boxes," adding, "In this regard, we support adhering to political verses to answer unclear matters legally and transparently."
