    The Information/Baghdad…
The Ministry of Industry confirmed, on Saturday, that 2021 was the worst year for the protection of the national product due to the weak implementation of the laws related to this aspect, while it noted the cessation of 35 factories so far, given that rehabilitating them is an unprofitable process due to their obsolescence with no desire to invest them.
Director of the Technical Department in the Ministry, Nasser Idris Mahdi Al-Madani, said in a statement to the newspaper “Al-Sabah” and seen by “The Information”, “The ministry implemented a short-term plan that included the rehabilitation of 22 factories, and a medium-sized one to rehabilitate 20 factories, which is hoped to be completed during the current year, in addition to restoring The activity of strategic factories in the future.
He explained that "the ministry owns 286 factories, most of which have been completed since the eighties of the last century and before, and their buildings suffer from obsolescence and extinction, and even the spare materials that go into its work have stopped their manufacture in countries."
And Al-Madani indicated that “the process of rehabilitating the old factories has become unprofitable, and therefore investors have resorted to establishing factories near them with new production lines to reach high and profitable productivity, while the ministry has taken over the revitalization of some factories that needed simple funds.”
He pointed out that "the number of the suspended factories is 35, some of which have no economic feasibility in operating with the lack of investors' interest in them, and it is better to neglect them and establish other factories near them and announce them as investment opportunities."
Al-Madani explained that “the ministry is suffering from inflation in the working staff, in addition to the work of a number of factories at 50 percent of production capacity due to the lack of protection for the local product, because the application of most laws is very weak, and the year 2021 has become the worst year for protecting the national product.” finished/25
