Independent MPs confirmed their unwillingness to participate in the next government, pointing out that they did not enter into alliances, stressing that their work would be limited to evaluating the executive performance and correcting the course of the political process.
Independent MP Sajjad Salem said, "The current work is witnessing high coordination in political positions between independent MPs regarding going to the opposition without forming a special bloc."
Salem added, "Based on what is currently happening inside the parliament, there is a high coordination and understanding of positions among the deputies, which is relied upon without going towards the formation of an opposition bloc." And regarding the possibility of questioning the current government, Salem indicated that “Parliament is able to question and hold Al-Kazemi’s government accountable, even if it is a caretaker government, it is subject to parliamentary oversight.”
For his part, a spokesman for the Manar Al-Obeidi Extension Movement stated, in televised statements that were followed by (Al-Mada), that “the movement for the people and along the line since the results were announced, have been clearly announced towards the opposition.”
Al-Obaidi added, "The coalition will not care about any alliances that may occur, as long as our goal is clear from the beginning, which is to form an opposition parliamentary bloc that will evaluate the executive performance."
He stressed, "Our work will focus on correcting the performance of the political system in general from within, and that we will be the voice of the street in the legislative authority."
Al-Obaidi explained, "The current alliances do not concern us either closely or from afar, and we find that some of them can speed up the formation of the government, and then we will exercise our real role of oversight and legislation in a more positive way."
Al-Obaidi went on to say, “Our position on the government is also clear that we will not participate in voting on it as long as we have chosen to resort to the opposition, and regarding the position of the President of the Republic, we have a candidate that we will vote for. on votes.”
For his part, independent MP Muhammad Anouz stated, "The parliament announced its adherence to its rules of procedure regarding the distribution of committees, stressing the importance of benefiting from the specializations and expertise of MPs, regardless of the size of the blocs."
And Anouz continued, "The work of the committees will be reflected in all parliament, and therefore we look forward to implementing what the Presidency of the House of Representatives promised that the distribution of committees will be according to specialization and not on the basis of political quotas."
He stressed, "The big powers that have a number of seats have to distribute their members to all committees, and thus there will be effective participation and not focus on one committee over another, and thus we guarantee the participation of everyone."
And Anouz said, "Leaving the previous mechanisms in the distribution of committees is something that has become agreed upon between the various political blocs, and we are waiting for what we have agreed upon to be implemented."
And he warned, against “certain political blocs taking over the committees, as this harms the work of the Council, which should work in unison and with the participation of all members, each according to his competence.”
Anouz concluded, “The previous sessions in which the committees suffered from a lack of a quorum, and a lack of sessions because their members were few, and therefore we are today looking for respect for all committees and for them to have representation that reflects their importance and presence in the parliamentary work.”
The number of independent representatives and members of the blocs emanating from the October protests is estimated at more than 50 deputies, and it is expected that they will have a significant impact on the opposition, away from the conflicts between the Triple Alliance on the one hand and the coordination framework and its allies on the other.
