    Baghdad today - Baghdad
Economist Nabil Al-Marsoumi confirmed today, Saturday (May 11, 2024), that the profitable wages offered by each company will be the standard for competition between companies for gas and oil exploration blocks in Iraq.
Al-Marsoumi said in a post on the social networking site “Facebook” that “22 companies, including eight Chinese companies, purchased the information packages related to the referral of thirty exploratory plots to foreign investment,” noting that “the patches are distributed over 13 governorates, most of which are gas patches.”
He stressed that "the criterion for competition will be the profitable fees offered by companies for each exploration block."
It is noteworthy that Prime Minister Muhammad Shiaa Al-Sudani confirmed, today, Saturday, that gas burning will stop within 3-5 years, while indicating that it establishes a new situation for Iraq at the level of the global energy market.
Al-Sudani said in a speech during the launching ceremony of the fifth supplementary licensing round and the sixth round, which was followed by “Baghdad Today,” that “our institutions are working away from bureaucratic means to facilitate the business environment,” noting that “he is proceeding with integrated oil projects and setting a goal of converting 40% of oil production within 10 years.” ".
He pointed out that "burning gas is a waste of wealth and results in devastating effects," noting that "Iraq is a difficult number in the equation of energy and oil wealth in the region and the world, and that Iraqis are waiting to enjoy wealth and provide a decent life."
He explained that "oil revenues must be used to advance the rest of the sectors," and that "he has a new vision, policy, and projects that advance the reality of oil wealth, and that the Ministry of Oil has made great efforts to be reflected in all aspects of our national economy."
For his part, Oil Minister Hayan Abdul-Ghani said, “The annex to the fifth licensing round and the sixth licensing round comes within the government program,” noting that “today the ministry is presenting 29 promising projects within these licenses to advance industry and gas wealth.”
The Minister of Oil added, "Licensing rounds have an impact by adding two million barrels of oil to national production," noting that "these projects will provide job opportunities, stimulate the economy in those areas, and meet the growing needs for gas."
He pointed out that "the Ministry will announce that Iraq's oil reserves will rise to 160 billion barrels."
