    The Minister of Oil, Hayyan Abdul Ghani, announced on Friday that tomorrow, Saturday, international companies will apply for the fifth complementary round of licensing rounds and the sixth round.
    The gas hoped to be obtained from these two rounds is equivalent to 200% of the amount of gas that Iraq imports from Iran, which amounts to 1,700 cubic meters per day.
    A statement from the media office of the Minister of Oil, seen by Al-Iqtisad News, was conveyed that “The Ministry of Oil took a decision from the first day to go to develop oil fields and exploratory blocks with various gas and oil promise by activating the fifth licensing round, which was frozen, and contracts were signed with companies and activated.” ".
    He added: "The quantities of gas expected to be produced from this round will be about 800 million standard cubic feet per day, as Iraq is in dire need of these quantities. In addition, we have launched the fifth complementary licensing round and the sixth licensing round."
    Abdul Ghani indicated in his statement that “these two rounds target 30 oil fields and exploration blocks with gas and oil promise. The exploratory blocks expected to be worked on will be on the western borders of Iraq, starting with Nineveh, Anbar, Najaf, Karbala, and Diwaniyah governorates, where tomorrow will be the date for presenting opportunities to 22 companies.” "It expressed its desire to obtain these opportunities, including large and international companies known for their ability to invest in the field of oil and gas."
    Abdul Ghani revealed, “Iraq will obtain more than 3,459 million standard cubic feet per day of gas through these two rounds. In addition, the Ministry of Oil has activated integrated projects and signed two memorandums of understanding, one of which is with a Russian company to invest in the Nasiriyah field with a capacity of more than 300 thousand barrels per day. These projects are The integrated plan includes oil production, gas investment to operate power stations, and the establishment of a refinery commensurate with the volume of oil production, as well as the establishment of a petrochemical plant in the same field.”
    He stated, “There is another project, the South Basra Integrated Project, which invests in the Tuba oil field with a production capacity of 200 thousand barrels per day. The project includes oil production, gas investment, and the establishment of a power station, in addition to establishing a refinery and a petrochemical complex in the same field. We worked to implement two of them, and the coming period will witness the implementation.” Other integrated projects.
    While the Director General of the Department of Petroleum Contracts and Licensing at the Ministry of Oil, Bassem Taher, said, “The fifth supplementary licensing round and the sixth licensing round will have a significant impact on investing large quantities of gas to benefit from them in various fields, the most important of which is the operation of power plants, in addition to developing the infrastructure of the areas surrounding the proposed projects.” Employing the workforce in addition to increasing oil and gas reserves.”
    During the past years, due to the severe gas shortage in the winter, Iran reduced the export of gas to Iraq, and in some weeks it completely stopped the flow of Iranian gas, causing an electricity crisis in Iraq.
