The emerging and independent parliamentary forces emanating from the October uprising criticize the positions of the traditional blocs as they contributed to disrupting the work of the Parliament for partisan interests, and they found that those who attended the second parliamentary session are the real representative of the Iraqi street, considering that Iraq is going through an exceptional stage that requires overcoming the previous mechanisms in political work.
The representative of the Alliance for the People, Omid Mohamed Ahmed, says that "the representatives were supposed to go through the second session in electing the president of the republic, in order to start forming the government after that."
Ahmed added, "The political conflicts within the legislative authority started early, and it led us to the stage of not having a quorum, and then disrupting Parliament, and this is unfortunate and incorrect."
He pointed out, "The representatives of the Alliance for the People, the Kanon Sunshine Movement and the independents, delivered a message through their presence at the presidential election session earlier this week, in which the quorum was not completed, that they are the best representatives of the Iraqi people who are looking forward to the best performance of the legislative authority."
Ahmed explained, "These forces and personalities had a different and independent opinion and did not obey the orders of the conflicting blocs, specifically the Sadrist movement or the coordination framework and those allied with them."
And he indicated, "The total of those who appeared to have a will alone and far from conflicts were about 55 deputies who attended the deliberative session, and they were hoping to achieve a quorum," noting that "the representatives of these forces, especially an alliance for the people, have a different thinking than that of other political forces, and they are not They have partisan and personal interests, but our goal is to achieve the public interest and serve the street that is discontented with the general situation.”
Ahmed added, "The real criterion for practicing parliamentary work for us is not violating the constitution and the law because of a political or personal position, because the people, when we were elected, wanted us to fully perform our duties and not abandon our duties."
He believes, "Political differences are common in the political process, but they should not be at the expense of the work of the Parliament and its legislative and oversight duties."
Ahmed finds, “The tripartite alliance between the Sadrist bloc, the Sovereignty bloc and the Kurdistan Democratic Party is awaiting the Federal Supreme Court’s decision regarding the process of electing the President of the Republic and its consequences, and in light of this decision, we believe that Parliament will return to its sessions.”
He pointed out, "Parliament should continue its work, and not be disrupted by political conflicts, because there are great duties that fall upon it, and therefore the public interest should be considered."
Ahmed went on to say that "the stage requires transcending the political norms on which the presidencies were formed in order to proceed with providing services to Iraqis and not to adhere to what was the cause of the growing crises."
For his part, the independent MP Haider Shamkhi stated, "The beginning of the parliament's work was clear that the independent representatives and the new emerging blocs that emerged from the Tishreen uprising are the true representative of the Iraqi people."
Shamkhi added, "These forces refuse to boycott Parliament and insist on attending the sessions and have a real role, whether on the side of enacting laws or monitoring the performance of the executive authority."
He explained, "Respect for the constitution, the law, and the internal system of the House of Representatives and the commitment to attend will proceed from the independents, and we will proceed to implement all the duties entrusted to us without delay."
Shamkhi stressed, "The political forces are obligated to complete the process of electing the president of the republic and then move towards forming the new government in accordance with constitutional contexts, and any delay in this process is not in the public interest."
He stressed, "The independents and members of the new forces will have a unified position within Parliament and an opinion that corrects the course of the political process in a manner that serves the public interest of Iraq."
Shamkhi concluded, “The important thing for us is that a new government of technocrats and independents be formed and that the aspirations of the Iraqis be realized, especially since we are in an exceptional electoral cycle that came after early elections and demonstrations and popular discontent with the situation, and everyone should put these matters into their accounts and not repeat the mistakes of the past.”
The traditional forces boycotted the second parliamentary session due to differences over the presidential candidate, while the attendance was limited to about 55 deputies representing the independent and emerging forces.
