The Digital Media Center DMC said, on Wednesday, that "Stealer Malware" caused the leak of hundreds of thousands of private data stored in government websites belonging to different countries, and was offered for sale on the "Dark Web".
According to a statement by the "Cyber Security" department at the center, Mawazine News received a copy of it, the leak included the data of 49,880 officials and users alike, in addition to the leak of 1,753,658 official documents.
He added that the data that was displayed on the "Dark Web" showed the presence of three Iraqi government websites, a number of whose data had been acquired, noting that the leaked Iraqi data belonged to websites belonging to the Ministry of Higher Education, the Ministry of Education, and the Federal Service Council.
To that, the researcher in the digital field, Dr. Fadel Al-Doukhi, touched on this, saying: The leaked credentials were 75 statements belonging to the three Iraqi government websites, and it was not determined whether they belong to government users or the general public.
Al-Doukhi continued: This number is very small compared to the thousands of leaked data on government websites in other countries such as India and Indonesia.
The DMC team called on the administrators of the targeted sites to clean their devices from malware, and to adopt updated antivirus programs, as well as to stay away from any unofficial software that is installed on the devices used, and also stressed the importance of government institutions adopting defensive strategies that allow them Respond to any cyber attacks and deal with them before any breach of their users' data occurs.
