    Baghdad today -
Today, Monday, an informed political source revealed an upcoming visit by the US Representative to the Middle East, Brett McGurk, to the Erbil Governorate in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq.
The source said in an interview with (Baghdad Today) that "McGurk will meet during his visit to Erbil, the leader of the Kurdistan Democratic Party, Massoud Barzani, and the presidents of the region and the government, in addition to holding a meeting with the deputy prime minister of the region, Qubad Talabani."
He added that "McGurk will also visit Sulaymaniyah and meet with Pavel Talabani, to discuss several files, most notably oil and gas and the differences between the two ruling parties in the region," noting that "McGurk will try to play a mediating role between the two parties, after matters reached a dead end."
The White House Coordinator for Middle East and North Africa Affairs, Brett McGurk, is visiting the Kurdistan region of Iraq, where the official of the Department of External Relations of the Kurdistan Regional Government, Sven Dziye, confirmed today, Monday, in press statements followed by (Baghdad Today) that the US Coordinator for Middle East and North Africa Affairs, Brett McGurk will visit Erbil to meet a number of officials.
The differences between the Union and Democratic parties have reached their climax, according to observers, especially after a delegation from the region headed by Masrour Barzani visited the capital, Baghdad, without the participation of representatives from the National Union, as the latter considered it a marginalization of the party.
The dispute between Baghdad and Erbil over the oil file remains an unresolved issue for more than two decades, and the United States called, earlier, on the two governments to negotiate this dispute and benefit from the United Nations mission in charge of assistance.
The oil and gas law in Iraq, which has been awaiting legislation in parliament since 2005, stipulates that the responsibility for managing the country's oil fields must be entrusted to a national oil company, and it is supervised by a federal council specialized in this matter.
