The Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research intends to implement a plan to initiate steps to consolidate private university education during the next stage.
The ministry's advisor, Dr. Alaa Abdel-Hassan Attia, told Al-Sabah: "This type of education is a reality, and we started several years ago with the process of securing it, and these processes are still in their infancy."
He expressed his hope that, with the creation of a number of promising universities, "the behavior of private university education will be academic, far from the logic of profit and loss," stressing that "this type of education is necessary because the number of students graduating from preparatory studies exceeds the capacity of public universities, which has become necessary to have This education is to absorb these large numbers and to support the education movement and its diversity.
Attia explained that "the ministry has a good and ambitious plan to start steps to consolidate this type of education, and some of them will be announced soon." Regarding the education development strategy for the coming years, he stressed that "the strategy this time must be effective in advancing the reality of education in general and higher education in particular. Provided that conditions and real follow-up are available.
He continued, "All developed countries of the world, whether in the European Union or America, always set strategies to develop all sectors, including vital ones, but at the same time form committees at a high level of follow-up and hold annual conferences and quarterly meetings."
He explained that "the strategy is applicable, and it can meet the aspirations of academic departments and educational leaders if it is followed up by all sectors that work on it, such as education, higher education, scientific research, planning, work, social and financial affairs, and others supporting this strategy." He expected the implementation of a large part of the strategy now and perhaps its full implementation. "Being better than strategies that have only been implemented in parts."
