Shafaq News/ The Parliamentary Oil and Gas Committee revealed, on Saturday, the content of the oil and gas law, which is hoped to be discussed and approved in Parliament soon, stressing that the draft law will solve all the problems that have existed between Baghdad and Erbil since 2007.
The oil and gas law is still a matter of controversy in Iraq after talk of preparing for a new version of it, following signs of a dispute over its passage in light of the divergence of opinions about it within the coordinating framework formed by the current government.

The oil and gas law, which has been stalled in the Iraqi parliament since its first session until today, is one of the most prominent points on which a preliminary agreement was reached between the two sides, but there are signs of disagreement that may affect the possibility of passing it.
Committee member Sabah Sobhi told Shafaq News agency, "The problems between Baghdad and Erbil can only be solved by approving the oil and gas law in Parliament," noting that "the oil law includes resolving all the problems that exist between Baghdad and Erbil since 2007, and without it, these problems will remain pending." .
He added, "The draft law did not reach the Parliamentary Oil and Gas Committee, and when the amended version arrives, it will be discussed within the committee, and after that the law will be read in the parliament session according to the parliament's internal system."
Sobhi continued, "In order to avoid accusations against the Kurdistan Regional Government of selling oil without the knowledge of the federal government, the federal oil and gas law will solve all problems and its approval will be complementary to the political agreement between the political forces, the federal government and the regional government."
The heads of the federal government, Muhammad Shia al-Sudani, and the region, Masrour Barzani, agreed to resolve differences and outstanding issues, including the files of the financial budget for the year 2023 and the oil and gas law in accordance with the permanent constitution of the country.
This came during a meeting that brought them together in the capital, Baghdad, on January 11, 2023.
The two sides discussed, according to a statement issued by the regional government, the necessary steps to prepare a draft oil and gas law, according to what was stated in the political agreement of the parties that formed the government and the ministerial program.
