A group of American politicians representing the state of Kentucky, led by Congressman Richard Heath, submitted a legal proposal that would prevent citizens of a group of countries, including Iraq, from obtaining agricultural lands within the state.
This came according to what was revealed by the American newspaper “The News Enterprise”, where it stated that “the draft, which will be presented in the list of Laws No. 500 to Congress, prohibits citizens of many countries, the most important of which are” China, Iran, Lebanon and Russia “and others from” owning, renting or occupying “land plots.” And agricultural real estate in the US state, which is the largest US state specialized in agriculture, for reasons it described as "security."
The newspaper quoted Heath's statements in which he said, "The aim of the law is to achieve American national security from a world that is not friendly to the United States," referring to the aforementioned countries.
He added, "Given consideration of the problem of declining available food and poor food security, which has become a global crisis, we must take advantage of the opportunity to take care of our food financing lines where they start, from US farms."
The newspaper pointed out that "the draft law is among the names of countries declared by the US federal government as a threat to the United States of America or as hostile," according to its description.
And she explained that "Section 126 of the Federal Controls Act Guide was adopted to identify countries that are described as hostile to the United States, which reached about 24 countries," according to the report.
