The men's clothing factory in Najaf concluded the direct sale exhibition of its products, amid announcing its suffering due to lack of financial liquidity as a result of non-payment of the financial costs owed by some ministries, and their reluctance to deal with it despite the superiority of its products compared to their imported counterparts.
The deputy director of the factory, Hassan Hussein Kazem, told Al-Sabah: Most health institutions tend to buy from the private sector because of the cheap prices, although their quality is much lower than the quality of the production of the Najaf factory, which operates according to standard specifications unlike the private sector, indicating that it consists Of three factories, the first is specialized in men’s clothing and the second is in the production of medical supplies such as bed linens and sterile suits, while the third is specialized in the production of military supplies such as personal armor and military uniforms.
He pointed out that the clothing factory, which was developed by a Chinese company and equipped with machines and equipment of Italian, German and Japanese origins, and used to produce 400 men's suits per day, decreased to 100 only due to the retirement of a large number of employees and the transfer of others to other departments and institutions, due to the lack of incentives. Kazem explained that among the difficulties that hinder the work of the factory comes the issue of energy availability. Electricity, for example, is calculated at the commercial price, meaning that it is multiplied by 120. The same applies to fuel (kerosene) that is used to operate the generators. The factory gets its share from the Ministry of Oil in the amount of 720 dinars. per liter, while kerosene is sold in the market at a price of 400 dinars per liter, in addition to the dues that have not been paid to the plant by some ministries, noting that there are about two billion and 800 million dinars owed by the Ministry of Interior since 2014, and the same applies to the Ministry of Defense.
He pointed out that if these funds are collected, spare materials for the machines can be purchased and maintained, and new machines can be added, in addition to buying fabrics and achieving permanence in the factory, not to mention allocating incentives for the workers in the factory.
For his part, the director of media and marketing at the factory, Ahmed Al-Talqani, told Al-Sabah that the factory went to hold direct sales exhibitions in coordination with government departments to activate the marketing of its products, stressing that the factory's products are subject to standardization and quality control and that the factory has an ISO certificate.
