Shafaq News/ The Iraqi Military Industrialization Authority expressed, on Sunday, its dissatisfaction with the lack of cooperation of the relevant ministries with it and the contract to purchase its products, while confirming that its future plan includes a gradual orientation to 100% Iraqi production.
The head of the Military Industrialization Authority, Muhammad Sahib al-Darraji, told Shafaq News, on the sidelines of the anti-terrorism exhibition, special operations and cyber security, that "the authority's law obligates the ministries and concerned authorities to purchase the authority's products if the local production rate is more than 25%."
Al-Daraji stressed, "We need a culture to encourage the national product, as the products of the Military Industrialization Authority are very good and usable, but unfortunately there is no response from the ministries."
In turn, the weapons engineer in the Military Industrialization Authority, Major General Rahim Al-Tamimi, told Shafaq News Agency, "The percentage of local manufacturing is currently 25%, and the remaining percentage is in partnership with non-Iraqi companies, but we hope in the future that the percentage of manufacturing wheels, drones and weapons locally is 100%."
He pointed out that "the authority's goal is to achieve the localization of military technology and local industry through the exhibition, but there is no real response to the authority's products."
Al-Tamimi continued, "We are working to achieve sales inside the country and raise the percentage of local products, which currently ranges between 25% and some products 30% and more, but we are facing difficulty with internal promotion, as there is no response from the ministries of interior and defense, the Popular Mobilization Authority and other security services because the decision-makers They are moving towards importing.
He pointed out that "the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, the Prime Minister, directed the ministries and concerned authorities to purchase weapons and equipment from the Military Industrialization Authority, and also that Law No. 25 obliges the Ministries of Interior, Defense, Mobilization and all security agencies to purchase the products of the Military Industrialization Authority, but there is no response to that and for illogical justifications and reasons." .
