Why Can't Ron DeSantis Let the War on Disney Go? It Could End Up Costing Him 2024: Who can hate Disney?
If you have kids, you get to see the joy on their faces when they watch Frozen or any blockbuster animated choice from the studio.
And if you are an older Star Wars fan, you are in luck, what an exciting franchise with new installments coming out frequently to fascinate you even more.
If you are a sports fan, how would you live without ESPN?
That’s why the feud between Florida Governor Ron DeSantis and Disney is inexplicable.
Oh sure, he’s mad about them criticizing his “Don’t Say Gay Bill,” but there are times to score your political points and move on. And he delivered enough hits to the “Mouse’s House” to go home and declare victory long ago.
[size=30]The Feud Started with Ron DeSantis Taking the High Ground[/size]
DeSantis would say he wants to protect children in school from what he believes are harmful discussions of gender identity and sexual orientation before kids are fully mature.Many parents are in support of this. Heck, my son, when he was in kindergarten through third grade didn’t need to hear about these issues. I understand that.
But it’s time to get over it, Governor.
This battle is not going to help you with moderates and Independents. The feud has gone on too long. Even former President Donald Trump is criticizing DeSantis and his battle with Disney.
[size=30]Then the Duel Became Tiresome[/size]
The governor wanted to remove Disney’s status of having a special tax district. Then he made up a new board with oversight of that district. Disney lawyers fought back and allied themselves with pro-Disney members of the outgoing board. That allowed the entertainment behemoth to regain control of the board. Then Disney sued Ron DeSantis.Now what, Governor?
You are in for a penny and in for a pound. The fight has gone on for so long you don’t want to quit, but you don’t want to admit defeat and stop the battle without a decisive blow that may never come about.

The lawsuit that came out April 26 puts the governor on the defensive and is likely not what he expected the company to do.The suit maintains that DeSantis limited the company’s constitutional rights regarding canceled state contracts that “allowed the company to continue to develop its properties with relative independence,” according to Vox. This was pure improper political retaliation committed by DeSantis, the lawsuit alleges, and it hurt Disney’s ability to conduct business.
Ron DeSantis has also looked to increase inspections on the various rides at Disney. He has threatened to make a state park in lands around the Disneyworld park or even build a prison.
[size=30]Enough Is Enough[/size]
Come on Governor, give it up.You have made your point. Disney may be woke. Well, a lot of companies are woke these days. It’s the trend called “Woke Capitalism” that author and presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy so eloquently wrote about already. It’s no longer big news. Now you are being sued, and you will look like the bad guys on Pirates of the Caribbean if you continue this fight beyond the courtroom.
And by the way, aren’t you going to run for president? You may want to fight against Trump instead of putting Disney through the ringer. You look unreasonable and out of touch with these self-righteous platitudes. Respond to the lawsuit and settle out of court and turn your sights on the presidential campaign. People are beginning to wonder how well you handle national media exposure and if you have a sunny side to your pugilistic politics. Trump is the hothead in the Republican party. Your job is to look like the one with a calm, collected demeanor and voice of reason.
If he runs, voters may look at the Disney saga and move on to a more friendly candidate like Nikki Haley or Tim Scott. This battle has gone on long enough and it is time for a ceasefire. Let’s see if DeSantis has the prudence and judgement to know when it is time to holster the pistol and save ammunition for Trump and President Joe Biden. Voters want to see a plan for the future and not a rehash of old grievances against a popular company.
So, governor, do what they sing on Frozen, “Let It Go.”
