Environment Ministry confirmed the completion of its work on the final procedures for the accession of Iraq to a group of international conventions on the environment.
The ministry said in a statement received by all of Iraq [where] that "the competent departments in the ministry is working on the completion of the procedures for the accession of Iraq to the agreements [Rotterdam and Stockholm POPs] and the Convention Mnyamata on mercury and the Convention on the Strategic Approach to International Chemicals Management chemicals [Alsaikm]" .
The statement added that "the technical departments working on the completion of a number of studies and research on Balkimaoyat some of them have been contracted with Iraqi universities for the preparation or through projects and databases."
"The technical departments of the ministry developed a database of chemical substances include the name of art scientific and commercial chemical and format helps to know what chemicals are inside Iraq and the date of production and the validity and extent of the danger."
For his part, art dealer, "The Ministry of Environment and united efforts for the creation of an integrated database for the storage of pesticides and location and the extent of matching these stores instructions environmental or not," stressing at the same time that the measures of control for these stores and chemicals will help in reducing the rates of pollution chemical that Iraq was suffering from it.
