, Oil Minister Hayan Abdul-Ghani announced, on Monday, an invitation to international oil companies to compete for the development of 13 fields and exploratory sites.
The Ministry of Oil stated, in a statement, which Mawazine News received a copy of, that “Minister of Oil Hayan Abdul-Ghani called on international companies specialized in exploration, development and production activities wishing to participate in the competition for investment opportunities within the annex to the fifth licensing round, which includes (13) fields and exploration sites distributed over northern, central and southern governorates.
Minister Hayan Abdel-Ghani said, "The announcement of the supplement to the fifth licensing round (+5) complements what was announced by the ministry in 2018 regarding the fifth licensing round and what followed it last February, in terms of concluding contracts with companies that won the fifth licensing round. To develop a number of border fields and exploratory sites in the governorates.
Abdel-Ghani indicated, "The ministry aims, through this round, to enhance production and oil and gas reserves, and to encourage investment in the oil sector in cooperation with international companies specialized in developing oil and gas fields and sites by inviting them to participate in the competition process in the new complementary round attached to the fifth licensing round." Which includes (13) thirteen oil and gas fields and sites, including (4) four blocks or exploration sites that were not referred in the fifth round in 2018, in addition to (9) nine new fields and sites, which were added to the appendix of this round.
The statement stated, "It includes the following exploration fields, sites, and blocks:
1. Al-Faw block - Basra Governorate.
2. Mount Sanam area - Basra Governorate.
3. Al-Shihabi patch - Maysan and Wasit governorates.
4. Zurbatiya District - Wasit Governorate.
5. Al-Dimah field - Maysan Governorate.
6. Qalaat Saleh area - Maysan Governorate.
7. East Baghdad field - northern extensions - Baghdad and Salah al-Din governorates.
8. Al-Dhafriya field - Wasit Governorate.
9. Allan Field - Nineveh Governorate.
10. Sasan Field - Nineveh Governorate.
11. Balkana Field - Salah Al-Din Governorate.
12. Abu Khaima field - Basra Governorate.
13. The fields of the Middle Euphrates (Al-Kifl, West Al-Kifl, and Marjan).
The Minister of Oil stressed, "commitment to the government's approach, and the directives of the honorable Prime Minister, to increase the oil and gas reserves, maintain and increase the national production of crude oil and free gas, and treat the gas associated with oil operations and turn it into wealth and productive and useful energy that covers the local need, especially for gas stations." Electric energy, the manufacture of petrochemicals, fertilizers, etc., and exporting its surplus to global markets, to achieve financial revenues that supplement the state treasury, in support of the national economy and sustainable development, as well as the advancement of the economic reality of our dear provinces in the north, center, and south, and the provision of job opportunities for its people.
