Economic analysts said that the visit of the Emir of the State of Qatar to Baghdad will have an important economic impact in the future in Iraq, especially since Qatar is a country with an important influence in the region and will revive the investment market, in addition to the role that Doha can play in resolving the water issue between Iraq and Turkey.
The economic analyst, Mahmoud Dagher, said in an interview with “Al-Sabah”: “The visit of the leader of a country with great regional influence to Iraq will have an economic impact, and the State of Qatar is the second or third country in the world in gas production, and Iraq needs an alternative to Iranian gas, and it also has Companies that can share Iraq in obtaining gas from its territory ».
He added, "Extending the Qatari pipeline to Europe - as a strategic project - could constitute important beginnings for Iraq in the process of developing economic growth, distributing economic activity, and benefiting from traffic fees from this pipeline linking Qatar and Europe, especially after the problems that Europe faced with Russian gas." .
He continued, "The State of Qatar is a major player in the region, despite being a small country, but it can support Iraq and play an appropriate role by influencing Turkey on the issue of water in Iraq, and this follows the ability of the Iraqi negotiator and the tools he has that he can use with Qatar and Turkey."
In addition, the economist, Hazem Hadi, explained the importance of the visit of the Emir of the State of Qatar to Baghdad, especially in the matter of investment and development, which will help revive the country's economy and give confidence to the rest of the country to enter the Iraqi arena.
Hadi said in an interview with “Al-Sabah”: “These visits have a positive impact on Iraq and Qatar as well, because the development process in Iraq depends on the financing and experience of other countries to get out of the great impasse that Iraq suffers from underdevelopment in infrastructure, especially since Iraq He has the experience and scientific competence to carry out such work.”
He added, "The investment environment is wide in Iraq, with its economic, social and other characteristics," praising the agreements signed between Iraq and Qatar, especially in the matter of development.
The Emir of Qatar, Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, visited the capital, Baghdad, yesterday, Thursday, and was received by Prime Minister Muhammad Shia Al-Sudani, and the two sides held a round of bilateral talks, then it was announced that several memorandums of understanding were signed between the two brotherly countries.
And Al-Sudani said, during a joint press conference with the Emir of Qatar, that "Iraq, with its wealth and strategic location, and Qatar, with its economic and development capabilities, are capable of integration and developing relations at various levels," stressing that "the State of Qatar will remain our strongest allies and partners in the region."
