Oil Minister Hayan Abdul Ghani confirmed that Prime Minister Muhammad Shiaa Al-Sudani is the first supporter of the licensing rounds, noting that the competition between companies to invest in gas and oil fields took place with high transparency.
Abdul Ghani said, “The presence of Prime Minister Muhammad Shiaa Al-Sudani at the ceremony announcing the fifth supplementary licensing rounds and the sixth round expresses great support for these activities carried out by the Ministry of Oil,” pointing out that “the two licensing rounds that were announced today came in coordination with the Prime Minister, who confirmed “It is necessary to promote on time.”
He explained that “there is a great push by the Prime Minister for these rounds, given that many of them are gas rounds to invest in gas patches to enhance the quantities of gas that go to the national grid and to operate power plants in light of the urgent need for this gas,” noting that “the Ministry is keen to complete These tours.”
He stated that “the procedures so far are sound and the competition processes are being conducted with high transparency, and that the companies have undergone a qualification process within specific criteria, in addition to the presence of a consulting company that has made a significant contribution in selecting the companies and granting them the appropriate qualification degrees.”
Prime Minister Muhammad Shiaa Al-Sudani launched the fifth licensing supplement round and the sixth licensing round.
A statement issued by the Prime Minister’s Media Office stated, “Prime Minister Muhammad Shiaa Al-Sudani sponsored the ceremony announcing licenses for the fifth supplementary round and the entire sixth round, which includes a total of 29 projects for oil and gas exploratory fields and patches, distributed among 12 governorates,” stressing that “ These strategic projects will contribute to increasing investments in these governorates, which will help improve their economic and service reality.”
The statement added, "Iraq expects to obtain more than (3,459) million standard cubic feet per day of gas, and more than one million barrels of oil per day, through these two rounds."
