Independent politician Adnan Muhammad confirmed on Sunday the intention of four Sunni political forces to exert pressure and provide evidence regarding the involvement of the Speaker of Parliament in seven major corruption files.

Muhammad said in an interview with Al-Maalouma, “Four of the most important Sunni alliances realize that Al-Halbousi’s party relied heavily on the Reconstruction Fund projects, which represents a cave of money that was greatly exploited for electoral influence in 2021.”
He added, "The Sunni alliances began to put effective pressure towards opening the money cave for the Al-Halbousi party by investigating projects in light of suspicions of financial and administrative corruption, especially since the Anbar files raised many question marks about the extent of corruption in other provinces."
He pointed out that "seven projects in Diyala, Anbar, and Nineveh are under investigation, and there are efforts being made by Sunni forces to thwart any attempt by Al-Halbousi to exploit his influence in institutions for electoral gain."
Al-Halbousi's party witnessed major problems that led it to lose a large part of its influence in several governorates, including Diyala.
