    Baghdad today - Baghdad
Former MP and leader of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan, Rebwar Taha, called today, Friday (October 27, 2023), for the adoption of a balance in appointments in Kirkuk Governorate.
Taha said in an interview with “Baghdad Today” that “we sent continuous messages to Prime Minister Muhammad Shiaa Al-Sudani, the Ministers of Interior, and other parties about the necessity of adopting balance in the appointments of the Interior, Education, and other departments.”
He added, "The quotas must be adopted according to the census, the percentage of representation of each component, and the representation of the regions, because there are parties trying to exploit these appointments for political and electoral purposes. This is why we demand balance, especially for the Kurdish component, which represents the population majority in the governorate."
Kirkuk Governorate is witnessing disagreements among the Kurdish, Arab and Turkmen nationalities, as each component claims that it does not get its share of appointments or administrative positions in the governorate.
