Shafaq News/ The head of the Social Protection Authority at the Ministry of Labor, Ahmed Khalaf Al-Moussawi, explained today, Wednesday, the mechanism for including students in the social assistance grant, and while he explained important aspects of the grant law, he revealed in numbers the numbers of its beneficiaries.
Al-Mousawi told Shafaq News Agency, “The student grant aid is not registration,” indicating that the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs, through the Social Protection Authority, has “opened electronic interfaces for every school, and the school principal is responsible for registering students through daily attendance.”
He added, "The student scholarship law depends on two factors. The first is that the student's father or mother is a beneficiary of social protection, and the second is that the student continues to work and does not fail," stressing that "if he is absent for 3 days a month, the scholarship will be cut off."
He explained, “The grant is disbursed through the Social Protection Key Card after the end of each month, to ensure that the student completes the month without interruption,” stressing that “The Ministry has completed the special procedures for the tenth month, and is awaiting the transfer of the financial balance from the Ministry of Finance to the Ministry of Education, and from The latter then transfers the financial balance to the Social Protection Authority, to be disbursed through the Qi Card.”
He stressed, "The Social Protection Authority registered one million and 900 thousand students in Baghdad and the governorates, with a total amount of up to 67 billion dinars, for primary school 30 thousand dinars, and for middle school 50 thousand dinars."
Regarding the sibling students, he explained that “the scholarship law does not depend on a specific number, but rather stipulates that they are all included, even if the head of the family has 4 students in different schools, they are all entitled to the amount.”
Regarding the non-inclusion of some students, he explained that “the Ministry has opened electronic interfaces for every school, and in the event that a student is not registered, the student’s guardian must inform the school principal that his student son has been included in the social grant, and once his name is added, the grant amount will be disbursed to him in the month in which he "Next."
He stated, “The numbers covered by the social protection subsidy from November 1, 2022 until now, have reached 825 thousand new families, and all of them are beneficiaries of this grant. As for the numbers of current families receiving the subsidy, they have reached two million and 100 thousand families, while the number of families receiving the subsidy has reached two million and 100 thousand families.” The number of individuals reached 7 million and 350 thousand individuals.
He concluded by saying, "All those who receive the key card are included in the student scholarship. As for those who will be included through the upcoming meals, once the key card is issued, they will receive it the following month."
