    Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) -The British Embassy in Baghdad expressed its readiness to support developing suitable response from the Iraqi Police towards the reports about woman abuse, noting that “The Embassy trained 17 Iraqi Police officers from different Iraqi provinces in cooperation with the Iraqi Interior Ministry over this issue.
    A statement by the UK Embassy in Baghdad received by IraqiNews.com mentioned on Thursday “The aim behind the celebration of the International Day for Woman on March 8th is to admit the bravery and courage of those who work to develop the level of Woman Rights all over the world.”
    The statement added “The British Charge De Affairs Robert Dean said during the graduation ceremony held for the Iraqi Policemen trainees over Women Rights that “Discrimination and violence against women are among the famous and continuous violations against Human Rights and our exerted efforts to maintain International Security will be damaged if these violations continue.”
    “On May 2012, the British Foreign Minister started an initiative from London to forbid body violence during conflicts ,” the statement continued saying, stressing “A team from the British experts is working with the British diplomatic missions all over the world to avoid such violence.”

    Jaaf describes Iraqi women’s situation as "dramatic"

    Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) -Member of the parliament Human Rights Committee, MP Asuaq al-Jaaf, described the situation of the women in Iraq as tragic and disappointing.
    Jaaf said in a statement received by IraqiNews.com on Thursday “The situation of the Iraqi women is dramatic, frustrating and does not meet the ambition where the women do not enjoy their rights guaranteed by the Iraqi constitution.”
    “The Iraqi women celebrate the world Women Day in light of serious circumstances they live and great violations that cannot be ignored,” she added.
    Jaaf called on “The political blocs and the ruling political parties to protect the women rights and prevent any abuses against them.”
    She stressed that “The Iraqi women suffer systematic policy of political and social marginalization and exclusion, despite the constitution guarantees their humanitarian and political rights.”
