The embassy said in a statement, that " the British Foreign Secretary said last week during his visit to Iraq that every democratic country has the right to demonstrate peacefully , " noting that " the United Kingdom supports the right of peaceful protest."
The statement added that " the protests were peaceful and still , and we do not feel that we arethreatened," he said . "We will not leave the Iraqi security forces have managed very well to deal withthe protests, and protests continuing Bslmah and we appreciate the professionalism."
The statement continued, " The Ambassador Frank Baker on vacation and takes his deputy Nick Lata position of responsibility now , " noting that "the UK stands behind the Iraqi people , who have the right to peaceful protest."
Sources from inside the Green Zone, last Sunday, said that " the security situation is stable, and witnessed the vicinity of thearea of the sit - ins, reasons prompted many Arab and foreign diplomats to leave Iraq, including the British Ambassador Frank Baker." Ended (1)
