    Baghdad today - follow-up 
    The President of the Republic, Abdul Latif Rashid, called for an end to the war in Gaza within a week, while pointing out that Iraq’s decision is independent on issues in the region and we do not follow any other country.
    Rashid said in a televised interview, followed by “Baghdad Today”, today, Monday (December 4, 2023), on the sidelines of the Climate Conference of the Parties, COP28,  that “Iraq lost a third of the country due to terrorist acts,” and while he pointed out that the crisis in Iraq is over, he stated that The water challenge in Iraq is caused by its water sources that come from abroad, and there is coordination with Iran and Turkey regarding the water file.
    He added, "After security was restored, the Iraqi government has an intensive program to meet the needs of the population, stressing the importance of maintaining security in Iraq and improving its infrastructure."
    He explained, "The crisis in Iraq has ended, but improving services requires several years," noting that "the water challenge in Iraq is caused by its water sources that come from abroad, and there is coordination with Iran and Turkey regarding the water file."
    The president continued, "Iraq's relationship is good with neighboring countries and the region, and the security situation is stable in Baghdad, but the media is trying to distort this image."
    He stated, "Displacement operations in Iraq are linked to many factors, including climate changes," noting that "displacement operations are now decreasing significantly within Iraq, and that climate changes have greatly affected Iraq, just as they have affected the world."
    He stressed, "The drying of the marshes was not due to climate change, but rather due to military operations. We have solved all our problems with neighboring countries and are playing the role of mediator in the region."
    Rashid added, “We demand the establishment of an independent Palestinian state with full rights, and we denounce the Israeli aggression against Gaza and demand an end to the war within a week,” pointing out that Iraq’s decision is independent on issues in the region and we do not follow any other country.
