    Baghdad today - Baghdad
    Deputy Prime Minister for Energy Affairs and Oil Minister Hayan Abdul Ghani announced today, Saturday (December 30, 2023), the formation of specialized committees to develop the border fields between Iraq and Iran.
    The media office of the Minister of Oil said in a statement received by "Baghdad Today", "Deputy Prime Minister for Energy Affairs and Minister of Oil, Hayan Abdul-Ghani Al-Sawad, concluded today, Saturday, his visit to the Iranian capital, Tehran, which began last Tuesday, during which the minister held a series of meetings with senior Iranian officials." The most prominent of them is the Iranian Vice President, as well as his counterpart, the Oil Minister, after which Al-Sawad met with the heads of a group of Iranian companies.”
    According to the statement, Abdul Ghani stressed “the importance of cooperation with international companies and countries of the region in implementing investment projects to develop the oil, gas and renewable energy sector in Iraq,” noting that “Iraq has called on specialized international companies to participate and contribute to the development of the oil and gas industry by participating in tours.” Oil and gas licenses, including the appendix of the fifth round and the sixth round, to develop oil and gas fields and sites in a number of Iraqi governorates, which include promising and important opportunities.”
    He pointed out, "The government and the ministry support strategic projects and are working to provide facilities and an appropriate investment environment due to the importance of developing the oil industry and enhancing joint cooperation with companies specialized in the investment and sustainable development sector."
    The Minister of Oil praised "the bilateral relations between the Republics of Iraq and Iran and the keenness to enhance the prospects for joint cooperation in the oil and energy sector," noting "the importance of forming joint committees in the specialized sectors, including: gas, exploration, drilling, and training, in addition to addressing issues related to joint fields."
    The statement explained, "The Minister of Oil revealed the agreement with his Iranian counterpart, Jawad Oji, to form specialized committees to expand opportunities for joint cooperation with regard to developing the common border fields between the two sides in accordance with international contexts and norms that guarantee the rights of each party and the Joint Cooperation Committee in the field of investment and assembly of gas and industries." Petrochemical and renewable energy, the Refinery Rehabilitation and Development Committee, and the Training and Development Committee.”
