Independent MP Kazem Al-Touki revealed the scenario of the session to select the Speaker of Parliament and the course of events that accompanied the process of voting on candidates for the position, pointing out that deciding the presidency was postponed until further notice after quarrels and chaos by the party that presented its candidate for the presidency of Parliament.

Al-Touki told Al-Maalouma, “The parliamentary session to choose the Speaker of the House of Representatives witnessed the presence of 5 candidates for this position, but not all of them received the votes of half plus one of the total number of parliamentarians.”
He added, "The second round of voting on the candidates witnessed in-depth negotiations between the political parties within the Sunni component, during which withdrawals of some candidates occurred and an agreement was reached to present one candidate for the position."
He stated that "the session president, after the end of the negotiations of the Sunni component, proposed amendments to the bylaws of the House of Representatives, in order to restore work to the Presidency of Parliament instead of the Presidency of the House of Representatives, as decisions were previously taken exclusively by the Speaker of Parliament, while the amendment allows representatives to participate." In making decisions with the Speaker of the Council, which faced some objections from the parties that presented their candidate for the Presidency of the House of Representatives, and as a result, quarrels and chaos occurred during the session, which prompted the Speaker of the Council to adjourn the session.” Ended 25 n
