Today, Thursday (April 4, 2024), Oil Minister Hayan Abdul Ghani announced the launch of the Wasit Investment Refinery, while indicating the discussion of the mechanism for developing the reality of the distribution of oil derivatives.
Abdul Ghani said in a press conference held in Wasit Governorate, attended by “Baghdad Today,” that “the Ministry announced the Wasit Refinery as an investment opportunity,” noting that “the Ministry received some offers from companies wishing to invest in the refinery and return it to work.”
He pointed out "discussing the reality of distributing petroleum derivatives and developing this sector, which has a direct relationship to the lives of citizens and providing them with fuel."
He explained, "The gas file was also discussed, as the governorate owns the largest factory for manufacturing gas cylinders, and this in turn will provide job opportunities for citizens."
Earlier, Prime Minister Muhammad Shiaa Al-Sudani issued directives to support Wasit Governorate, and also directed the Ministers of Oil and Electricity to visit Wasit, to find out its needs in these two sectors, according to a statement from his media office.
He also confirmed his support for establishing (Wasit Oil Company) to work within the integrated oil projects plan, continuing to complete the lagging Turkish hospital project, and filling the shortage of school buildings in the governorate through the Iraq Fund for Development, as well as directing the service and engineering effort, in cooperation with the governorate, to serve residential areas.
