    He said the valley, that "the oil minister expressed his full support is vital for the project that the Wasit became one of the oil-producing provinces and includes the fields of humpback and Badra and a number of untapped fields," noting that "the delegations of the local government and the Chinese company, held a joint meeting with the oil minister counselor, Zia Jaafar al-Moussawi reluctance to discuss practical steps to start implementing the refinery after the completion of legal and administrative procedures and to inform the company on the terms of the investment Law to ensure transparency and accuracy in contractual procedures that will be signed later between the ministry and the company. "
    And called on the governor of Wasit province, the Ministry of Oil to "accelerate the implementation of administrative and legal procedures to move the project due to the large significance of Wasit and neighboring provinces."
    The Energy Committee in the Wasit Provincial Council, had announced (the twentieth of September 2016) for the approval of the Ministry of Oil to build an oil refinery in the province, its city of Kut (180 km southeast of Baghdad), while it showed that a committee of oil experts began prepare a study for the refinery and determine the location, he confirmed that Shell has made an offer to create it and perhaps be the luckiest among other companies to implement this great project.
    The Wasit administration have been reported in (Twenty-seventh of April 2014), the French Shell has expressed a desire to establish an oil refinery in the province, saying that the local government will do its best to obtain approvals for the project.
    The Wasit management, has announced (28 September 2014), he agreed with counterpart Eelam Iran, to enhance the prospects of joint cooperation between the two sides, indicating that it includes launch three investment opportunities leading to the Iranian companies, including the establishment of an oil refinery and petrochemical plant and invest Airport Walcott civil.
    The Wasit province has at present two fields for oil production are the humpback, (29 km east of Kut), which has been invested by the Oasis Chinese company and currently produces 140 thousand barrels per day, in addition to field Badra (80 km east of Kut), which is a production of currently 60 thousand barrels per day and is expected to peak production in which up to 170 thousand barrels in the current 2017.
