    Economy News - Baghdad
[rtl]Today, Friday, the Ministry of Oil set two conditions for moving the Doura refinery to an alternative location, while confirming Prime Minister Muhammad Shiaa Al-Sudani’s keenness to choose an alternative location for the refinery.[/rtl]
[rtl]Ministry of Oil spokesman Assem Jihad said, “The Doura Refinery was established in the early 1950s to produce a group of petroleum derivatives, including gasoline, gasoline, white oil, a group of automobile oils, and others to meet the country’s need for petroleum derivatives,” pointing out that “the Doura Refinery He achieved refining energy production rates of 110,000 to 140,000 barrels per day.[/rtl]

[rtl]He added, "The idea of changing the location of the refinery already exists, but it was postponed due to the circumstances that Iraq went through, whether before 2003 or after 2003, which prevented changing the location of the refinery, in addition to another reason related to Iraq's need for oil derivatives," explaining that "After the year 2003, the country witnessed an increase in the volume of consumption of petroleum products, in addition to the conditions facing the oil industry and the targeting of oil facilities, pipelines and refineries, including the Doura refinery being subjected to several attacks, which was causing a shortage of petroleum derivatives."[/rtl]

[rtl]Jihad continued, “When the Doura Refinery was established, the Doura area was chosen at that time because of its proximity to the Tigris River, and also because the area was an area of orchards in which green environmental factors were available, and therefore it was an ideal area for establishing the refinery. However, after the urban expansion that occurred and population development, the refinery became the inside the city after it was on its outskirts.”[/rtl]

[rtl]He stressed that "there is a keenness from the government, the Prime Minister and the Ministry of Oil to choose an alternative location for the refinery, especially after the success of the government and the ministry in opening the Karbala refinery with a capacity of (140) thousand barrels, which contributed to filling part of the local need, and also the opening of the fourth unit in the southern refineries with a capacity of (70) (One thousand barrels, whose production has now reached the range of (280) thousand barrels, and also the success of the national effort in rebuilding the Al-Samoud refineries, which include the North Refinery with a capacity of (150) thousand barrels per day, one Salah al-Din refinery with a capacity of (70) thousand barrels, and the Salah al-Din refinery with a capacity of (150,000 barrels per day). 70) thousand barrels as well, in addition to the project that the Southern Refineries and the FCC project are working on, and also adding a number of production units to small refineries, and the ministry is also directing to build a number of refineries in the governorates, and investment companies have been invited to build a number of these investment refineries.”[/rtl]

[rtl]Jihad continued, “After reaching self-sufficiency, the government will certainly be able to gradually move or gradually transfer the equipment and refinery facilities to the alternative site, and this process takes some time so as not to affect the production process,” noting that “the site is chosen with certain specifications and is close to Sources feeding the refinery with crude oil, its proximity to the pipeline network, availability of the agent to the environment, etc.[/rtl]
