The Ministry of Electricity pointed out that the energy situation during the summer of 2024 will be better than in previous years in terms of preparation and operation. The ministry’s official spokesman, Ahmed Moussa, explained to “Al-Sabah” that his ministry coordinated with the Ministry of Oil to provide gas and fuel to continue operating the power stations, and not to make the same mistakes that occurred during previous seasons and caused a lack of equipment, indicating that the measure comes in line with the Prime Minister’s directives. Increasing processing hours according to the new generating capacity, ensuring the addition of larger capacities to Baghdad and the governorates. He pointed to drawing a technical road map to determine the needs of production stations for national fuel and gas, in addition to contracting with the Islamic Republic of Iran to import 50 million cubic meters of gas, to ensure the continuation of production for stations operating with Iranian gas within the operating plan for the current summer season, praising the great cooperation between his ministry. And the Ministry of Oil in this regard, which indicates that the summer of 2024 will be better than previous years in terms of preparation and operation. Musa pointed out that the production and processing stations in Baghdad and the governorates are undergoing field tours to see how they work and equip them, in addition to providing guidance on repairing faults and defects reported through the Complaints Department for all regions, to ensure the continued operation of the system and to provide citizens with energy to face the summer heat.
