    Baghdad today - Baghdad
The head of the Iraqi Atomic Energy Commission and the Minister of Higher Education, Naeem Al-Aboudi, announced today, Tuesday (May 14, 2024), that the Balad base in Saladin Governorate and the Al-Nahrawan site in Al-Mada’in district in Baghdad are free of radioactive contaminants.
Al-Aboudi said during a press conference in the presence of members of the Diwani Order Committee No. (23580), followed by “Baghdad Today,” that “the Iraqi national teams were able, within a record period, to remove radioactive contaminants at the base of a town in Salah al-Din Governorate and the Nahrawan site in Baghdad Governorate.”
He added, "The work comes within a national plan to remove pollutants," noting that "national monitoring teams conducted radiation surveys and concluded that the sites were completely free of pollutants in accordance with national and international standards and requirements."
