A project to develop a climate investment plan in Iraq

Iraq launched a technical support project to develop the climate investment plan, especially since the project will play a role in reducing and mitigating the climate impact in Iraq.
The head of the National Investment Authority, Dr. Haider Muhammad Makkiya, said at the project launch ceremony, which “Al-Sabah” attended: “The project was launched in cooperation between the United Nations Development Program and the Ministries of Environment and Planning, and a plan was drawn up extending to the year 2030 through which a technical team will be formed from all sides.” Sectoral sectors to draw up a real plan that accommodates the challenge that the country is going through in terms of climate change and desertification.”
He added, "This plan can meet the demand for a sustainable real economy in Iraq."
For his part, Director of the Climate Change Department at the Ministry of Environment, Yousef Moayed, said in an interview with Al-Sabah: “The plan will be prepared by the government to represent its advanced understanding of the issue of integrating the economic dimension into climate change issues.” He continued, "This document will deal for the first time at the level of integrating the economic sector represented by the private sector and promoting green investment opportunities."
Moayad stated, "Through this document, the standards for encouraging green investment will be determined, whether from government institutions or local companies, and encouraging international companies and foreign investors to come to Iraq in a way that enhances the transition towards sustainable green investment."
In addition, the project director and climate change specialist with the United Nations Program, Anmar Al-Saray, told Al-Sabah: “The project aims to find investment opportunities and solutions that can reduce the impact of the climate in Iraq,” noting that “this project will have a role In reducing and mitigating the climate impact in Iraq.
