    Economy News - Baghdad
[rtl]Today, Friday, the Ministry of Water Resources announced the removal of about 25,000 encroachments on river banks and water quotas, including 8,000 fish lakes.[/rtl]
Assistant Director General of the General Authority for Operating Irrigation and Drain Projects, Ghazwan Abdul Amir Al-Sahlani, said, “Water resources, represented by the General Authority for Operating Irrigation and Drain Projects, and in coordination with the Ministry’s formations, are continuing the campaign to remove all violations on the banks of the rivers.”
He added, "These violations are of several types, including on water quotas by opening outlets, installing bypass pumps, and creating fish lakes, in addition to violations on river banks by constructing fixed structures that conflict with the beach exploitation law, in addition to environmental violations by throwing waste into river streams."
He continued, "The violations that were lifted from 11/6/2022 until today amounted to approximately 25,000 violations, including 8,000 violations of a fish lake."
He stressed that "this campaign contributed to the non-stopping of water liquefaction complexes in the regions, governorates, and river valleys," explaining that "these campaigns involve the cadres of the Ministry of Resources, represented by the General Authority for Employment and the Maintenance and Irrigation Department, by providing the mechanisms required to remove these violations."
He stated that "lawsuits were filed against the transgressors, and some lawsuits were settled and the negligent parties were held accountable."
