Today, Sunday, the General Secretariat of the Council of Ministers revealed the details of the decision to reduce official working hours for state employees, and while it confirmed that governors were empowered to suspend working hours, it referred to the working hours of employees of institutions in the capital.
Spokesman for the General Secretariat of the Council of Ministers, Haider Majeed, told Al-Iqtisad News, “The Prime Minister’s directive to reduce official working hours for employees of all government institutions came in conjunction with the noticeable rise in temperatures that the country witnessed during the past days, in addition to rationalizing consumption.” Electrical energy in all institutions.
He added, "The decision includes all employees in Baghdad and the governorates, and the official working hours in the governorates will be from seven in the morning until one in the afternoon, with governors authorized to grant or suspend official working hours if temperatures reach 50 degrees Celsius or more."
As for Baghdad, Majeed said: “There will be a discrepancy due to the difference in official working hours in the ministries, after the Council of Ministers’ decision taken in March regarding the issue of relieving traffic congestion.”
He pointed out, "The working hours in government institutions in the capital, Baghdad, will be only 6 hours. That is, in the institution whose working hours start from 8 a.m. until 3 p.m., their working hours will change to be from 7 a.m. until 2 p.m.."
The spokesman for the General Secretariat explained, “The directive was implemented this morning, and will continue until August 29 of the current year.”
