    The President of the Kurdistan Region, Nechirvan Barzani, and the Turkish President, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, expressed their concern about the tensions in the Middle East, their danger, and their potential repercussions on the region, during their meeting today, Wednesday (October 16, 2024).
    A statement by the presidency of the region stated that Barzani met with Erdogan this afternoon in the Turkish capital Ankara, and during it they stressed "the development of Turkey's relations with Iraq and the Kurdistan Region, especially in the economic field, and they also discussed ways to raise the level of trade exchange, job opportunities and the employment of Turkish capital in various parts of Iraq and the Kurdistan Region."
    The Turkish President stressed "the continuation of his country's cooperation and support for Iraq and the Kurdistan Region and the joint cooperation between the two sides in all fields. He also indicated the readiness and desire of the private sector in his country to work and invest in various sectors and fields."
    In another aspect of the meeting, the two sides expressed, according to the statement, "their concern about the tensions in the Middle East, their dangers, and their potential repercussions on the region. In this regard, the two sides agreed on the necessity for everyone to work to prevent the expansion of the circle of complications and to resolve problems through peaceful means."
    The relations between Erbil and Baghdad, the development road project, the relations between Iraq and the Kurdistan Region with the countries of the region, the dangers of terrorism and confronting ISIS, occupied another axis of the meeting, according to the statement.
