Amending the budget for social care and the disabled

Advisor to the Prime Minister for Social Welfare, Sanaa Al-Moussawi, indicated the need to increase the allocations to the sections of the 2024 budget, to include a larger number of families living below the poverty line, noting the deletion of some names that exceed the social protection program.
Al-Moussawi said, in an interview with “Al-Sabah”: “Social protection programs have budgeted 650,000 families, and today another 900,000 families have been included in 2023, and currently one million families have entered after completing searches in the database.” Al-Mousawi saw that “there is a need to increase funds and amend paragraphs in the social protection sections within the 2024 budget, after deleting the names of some of the transgressors,” noting that “the recent decision canceled the inclusion of some names in the database, who receive salaries from some ministries, to reduce the burden on the database and create... Job opportunities, thus including new names.” The advisor added, "The names included are few, and the segments of women, the disabled, and the disabled will need an increase in the numbers of inclusion, which requires an amendment to the 2024 budget." Regarding the People with Disabilities Law, Al-Moussawi explained that “it was previously returned to the government, which in turn referred it to Parliament after amending it, and there is coordination to amend paragraphs requested by people with special needs and the disabled in order to do them justice in all sectors and fields, so all ministries were addressed with the demands of people with special needs and all ministries.” I cooperated and responded to their requests, and this will be included in the provisions of the People with Disabilities Law.” Al-Mousawi called on the House of Representatives to “expedite the adoption of the People with Disabilities Law, as the Council of Ministers’ decision stipulates an increase in the salary of a full-time employee to 250 thousand dinars, but there are rights for the disabled and people with special needs in the ministries of education, health, and roads, in addition to providing a friendly environment for the disabled, which is one of the The responsibility of all ministries.
