Shafaq News / Elements of intelligence as officers were deployed in Baghdad’s’ streets on Sunday dressed in military uniforms with combat equipment , hours after announcing alarm (c) in all security institutions in the capital, an official security source said.
“Instructions were issued for the intelligence elements to change their civilian clothes to military uniforms and go to the streets with combat equipments hours after the declaration of alarm (c) to ministries of defense and Interior in Baghdad,” the source told “Shafaq News”.
“The decision has confused elements of the intelligence service,” adding that “some of them rejected the resolution, fearing of being targeted later,” the source said.
Forces of the Iraqi army and police forces as well as (golden division) and (anti-terrorism forces) have imposed tight security in case of any emergency that may the capital witness during the next few hours.
The security measures came to coincide with the U.S. administration's decision to close its embassy in Baghdad on Sunday for security reasons.
