announced that the Special Envoy of the Russian President for the Middle East and South Africa 's Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov, on Monday, plans to hold a tripartite meeting involving representatives from Russia , the United States and the United Nations on Syria in Geneva next week.
The news agency «Sputnik» for Bogdanov as saying «is planning to hold a meeting on Syria , including representatives from Russia, the United Nations and the United States in Geneva and we are waiting for confirmation from American colleagues», adding that «this meeting may take place next week».
Bogdanov said that «the UN special envoy to Syria Staffan de Mistura , and his deputy , Ramzi Ramzi will represent the United Nations at the meeting, while will represent the Russian side , Deputy Russian Foreign Minister Gennady Gatilov and head of the Middle East and North Africa at the Russian Foreign Ministry Sergey Vershinin and we are still waiting for who will represent United State".
He added Bogdanov «I think this triple formula would be very good to discuss all topics, especially and above all the next round of Geneva talks, as well as to clarify the positions of third parties will also be addressed to the question of a ministerial meeting of the International Support Group Syria», expressing his belief that « a lot which relates to the holding of the ministerial meeting will depend on the positions of the parties of the Russian and American both sides and the nature of the United Nations immediately. »
On the other hand, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said that his country would not allow undermining efforts aimed to reach a political settlement of the crisis in Syria in accordance with the Security Council resolution.
Lavrov said: he «should not waste time, particularly in circumstances where the political process is under threat , including the American strike on the IPL airport and the pursuit of a lot of players both inside and outside Syria to exploit the situation and blame the Syrian government by starting to stay away from the political settlement and the right of the Syrian people , the report of the future to work towards changing the Syrian government », describing these attempts as« dangerous tendency ».
And held the planned meeting in Geneva and includes representatives from Russia , the United States , the United Nations said Lavrov «plan to the vote after the next meeting in Astana and hope that de Mistura find an appropriate date for the resumption of the Geneva talks as hints that the talks would be after the month of Ramadan show».
It was launched in Geneva in the twenty - third of last month , the fifth round of the Syrian Syrian dialogue with the participation of the Syrian government delegation and other delegations and ended on the 31st of the same month , while the fourth round of the dialogue ended in the third of last March by agreeing on the agenda of the four baskets most notably the fight against a basket terrorism.
