BP: Iraq's oil production rises to 400,000 barrels

    09:34 - 22/07/2017

The report of the sixty-sixth British Petroleum «BP», the increase in Iraq's oil production to 400 thousand barrels, while noting that the consumption of world oil oil grew by an average of 1.6 million barrels per day or 1.6%, the highest rate of ten years at 1.2% for the second consecutive year in 2016.

China accounted for the lion's share of that increase in consumption growth (about 400,000 barrels per day) and India (330,000 bpd). Global crude production has risen modestly in 2016 by 400,000 bpd, the lowest since 2013. The average daily world consumption was 96.55 million barrels, the Asia and Pacific region accounted for 34.8 percent, and North America at 24.7 percent.

The Middle East accounted for 9.8% of global consumption, Africa slightly over 4%, Europe and Eurasia 19.5%, Latin America and Central America at 7.2%.

Kuwait's consumption is down 1.3% to 499,000 barrels per day, but Saudi Arabia remains the top Gulf and Middle East region, far behind Iran, which consumes 1.85 million bpd. Interestingly, Qatar's consumption growth was 7.5% to 339,000 bpd in 2016, followed by the UAE with 6.7% growth to 987,000 bpd. Qatar's consumption growth is the highest among the six Gulf states, noting that the report did not mention Oman or Bahrain for small quantities consumed.

As for the Middle East, there was an increase in production of 1.7 million barrels per day led by Iran (about 700 thousand barrels), then Iraq and Saudi Arabia (about 400 thousand each).

Production outside the Middle East fell 1.3 million barrels per day, led by America at 400,000 bpd, China 310,000 barrels, and Nigeria, whose output fell 280,000 barrels.

Crude prices fell sharply last year, with Brent crude averaging 43.73 dollars a barrel from 52.39 dollars in 2015.

Global energy consumption grew globally by 1.0% last year, slightly up from 0.9% in 2015. This rate is much lower than the average global consumption growth of 1.8 in 10 years. China recorded a 1.3% increase in energy consumption of all kinds. Ending / 25
