US military suspends use of drones due to "security holes"

The US military has ordered its personnel to stop using drones manufactured by China's SZDJI Technology due to "security holes".
According to a US military memo dated August 2, published online and verified by Reuters, this applies to all UAVs manufactured by the company and systems using components or programs.
The memo requires all US military personnel to "stop using or placing any applications from DGI and remove all batteries, storage devices and equipment of the company.
The drones produced by the Chinese company are the most widely used in the US military among ready-made equipment of this type, the memo said.
The company said in a statement it was "surprised and frustrated" by the "unjustified restrictions imposed by the army on the company's aircraft and was not consulted during the decision-making."
The company said it would continue to work with the US military to determine what it means to be "security holes" in its equipment and was ready to cooperate with the Pentagon to resolve any concerns.
