    Financial committee committee chairman Ahmad Haji Rashid announced on Sunday that the central bank has decided to stop opening branches in Arbil and Sulaymaniyah due to the referendum scheduled for September 25

    "The central bank ended last month the opening of two branches in Erbil and Sulaymaniyah," Rashid said in a statement to the Journal News. "The bank suspended these procedures because of the date of holding a referendum in Kurdistan and its fears of aggravating the problems between Baghdad and Erbil."

    He added that "citizens in Kurdistan could have benefited from the branches of the Central Bank of Arbil and Sulaymaniyah without the decision to hold the referendum."

    The Central Bank has announced the middle of this year opened two branches in Sulaymaniyah and Arbil.

    Iraqi Central Bank denies ordering to stop its branches in Kurdistan because of the "referendum"



    The Central Bank of Iraq denied the suspension of its branches in the Kurdistan region because of the insistence of the Kurds to hold a referendum on secession from the Iraqi state.

    The director of "financial accounting" in the central bank, "Ihsan al-Yasiri," in a statement to the «Journal News» that «a clear to the media reported on the decision to stop or close the branch of the Central Bank in Erbil or Sulaymaniyah and they continue to work.

    As a member of the Committee, "financial parliamentary" Abdelkader Mouloud that "the branches of the Central Bank continues its work in the region."

    "The Finance Committee had a meeting in the previous days with the Governor of the Central Bank Ali Alaq and stressed that the bank's branches continue to work and there is no obstacles in the region."

    The head of the Finance Committee, Ahmed Haji Rashid, said Sunday that the central bank has decided to stop opening branches in Erbil and Sulaymaniyah due to the referendum scheduled for September 25.
