Over 300 flights canceled at Hong Kong Airport
China has canceled at least 300 flights while another 50 are waiting to fly at the Hong Kong International Airport due to the Tropical Typhoon Pachar, the South China Morning Post reported.
The airport administration said earlier that at least 140 flights had been canceled, but that number had doubled due to bad weather. According to Sputnik.
She said 20 aircraft currently on the runway were waiting for improved weather conditions to take off, as well as 30 other aircraft waiting for permission to fly.
Typhoon Baher arrived at the coast of Taishan City in Guangdong Province around 9 am local time.
The maximum wind speed was 33 meters per second, equivalent to 12 points. The Hong Kong and Macao Observatory has raised its warning of the hurricane to level eight, one of the highest levels, with hurricanes classified as high as 10 storms.
Macao, Hong Kong and a number of southern regions of China were still recovering from the deadly hurricane Hato four days ago. According to the latest figures, Hatto's victims were 17 people, nine of whom were from Macao.
For the first time in history, authorities have attracted PLA soldiers to control the consequences of the typhoon.
