Qatar to abandon the Muslim Brotherhood

"There is no relationship between Doha and the Muslim Brotherhood today," said Saif bin Ahmed al-Thani, director of the government liaison office in Qatar.
Saif al-Thani, in an interview with the Los Angeles Times, published Monday, said: "There is no relationship between us and them. All these allegations are Egyptian allegations, as you know what happened to the Arab Spring. When the military was in power, "We began to support Egypt economically, as we pumped money into the Central Bank of Egypt and committed to send five shipments of gas free of charge, and other matters of support."
    Al-Thani added:
In response to another question about the arrival of former Egyptian President Mohamed Morsi and the way in which the government changed in Egypt, al-Thani said that Qatar is dealing with people chosen by the people, adding that his country does not interfere in the internal affairs of other countries.
"For us, what happened in Egypt is an internal affair, and the people chose not to do anything about these developments, so we respect their choice," he said.
The Qatari official stressed that his country does not support groups or individuals interfering in the affairs of other countries. "When we deal with developments in Tunisia, Syria or Libya, we do not choose a party or an individual. We focus on public opinion. Our effort is not aligned to the party. "
"They accuse us of supporting the Muslim Brotherhood. For example, in Tunisia, the government that ran the country after the Arab Spring was from the Muslim Brotherhood, and we started cooperating with them after they took power, and we did not work with them as a party. , And then won the opposition, and we cooperate with them, and we held a conference last year to support and invest in Tunisia, and in this framework we have established a fund for small and medium enterprises.
    Hamas
and Qatar's support for Hamas, Al-Thani said the George W. Bush administration supported the idea of holding elections in the Gaza Strip and wanted the participation of all political factions in the elections.

The Qatari official said: "We took the initiative in this regard, and followed us other countries after that, and Hamas won the election, and now there are members of its political office in Doha."
    Terrorism and the Gulf Crisis
The director of the government liaison office categorically denied that Qatar supports terrorism, both at the level of organizations or individuals, saying that the accusations against Qatar are false, and that Qatar has not given any money to terrorist groups and does not support terrorism.
Al-Thani said that the first step in resolving the current Gulf crisis is to lift the siege on Qatar, "because it is not permissible to bully any country like this," while the second step is to hold dialogue in an environment that allows it.
He stressed that the State of Qatar is ready for dialogue, but will not accept infringement of sovereignty or independence of its political decision.
