{International: Al Furat News} Oil prices fell as speculators took profit-taking sales for a second day after strong gains in the third quarter and concerns that rising prices could spur an increase in US shale oil production.
Global Brent crude futures fell to a near 12 cents, or 0.2 percent, to settle at $ 56 a barrel after falling nearly 2.5 percent on Monday.
US light crude futures fell 16 cents, or 0.3 percent, to close at $ 50.42 a barrel.
Brent gained about 20 percent in the third quarter, the biggest rise for the three months since 2004, and traded at a high of $ 59.49 last week, but has since fallen about 6 percent.
