    Activists and a number of people from the province of Dhi Qar expressed their concern about the high rates of murder and suicide in the province, which saw the death of 3 people in a family quarrel and the suicide of two girls in one day, while attributed the rise of these crimes to poverty and unemployment, family differences and tribal conflicts, Social, economic and awareness-raising efforts to reduce them. 
    The Dhi Qar police command announced on Saturday (September 30, 2017) in a statement that three people were killed in al-Fida neighborhood, a suburb of the city of Nasiriyah by their uncle after a family quarrel, while referring to the suicide of two girls in the areas of Sayed Dakhil and reform.

    The head of the Court of Appeal of the Dhi Qar Federal Judge Haidar Hussein said in an interview with (range) that "the issues of murder and clan disputes and the rise in the countryside of Dhi Qar between 30 - 40 percent," He also witnessed criminal crimes are also the rise in recent years .
    Hussein attributed the reasons for the rise of the killings to "the spread of arms and lack of control and to high rates of poverty and the social environment and tribal customs and traditions dominant in the rural areas of Iraq." 
    The suicide cell, set up by the local government in Dhi Qar to cope with the growing problem of suicide among young men and women, indicates that Dhi Qar is registering one suicide case every week and that suicide rates have risen by 8 percent in 2016.

    Poverty rates in the province of Dhi Qar, according to a report published by the Ministry of Planning and Development Cooperation in April 2010 34%, which is higher than the rates of poverty across Iraq by about 11% where the poverty rate across Iraq, according to a report prepared by the Central Agency for Statistics and Information Technology 23% .
