Paris urges Iraq to submit its arguments to trial

     Baghdad / Range

French Foreign Minister Jean-Yves Laudrian confirmed on Friday that fighters of an extremist French organization jailed in Iraq would be tried in the country, while cases of children would be dealt with on a case-by-case basis.
"If there are prisoners in Iraq, it's simple: the Iraqi authorities have to deal with the situation of the fighter men and women ... They knew exactly why they went there, that is to fight with a hustler," said Ludrian of Radio Europe 1. So they are enemies, they have fought France, they have contributed in some way to carrying out attacks in this country. "
On the children of the gunmen, Lauderane repeated President Emmanuel Macaron's remarks, which said on Wednesday the possibility of their return to France depended on a "case-by-case" search.
"At the moment, when they return to France, they will be placed under the guardianship of the child judge who decides on them," he said.
"This is the case for Iraq," he said. "But the difficulty lies in Syria, because there is no effective rule, so France is resorting to the International Red Cross whenever there is a situation."
French intelligence estimates that today there are 690 French terrorists in Iraq and Syria, including 295 women and 28 minors.
McCron's remarks last Wednesday raised the concern of families who have called for the return of women and children from Syria and Iraq so as not to become "ticking bombs."
The French government is dealing with the issue while the attacks of 2015 are still in the minds of those who participated in the implementation of "returnees" from Syria.
Parisian Attorney General Francois Moulans warned Friday against "naively" dealing with the issue.
"Some of them have been trained to use weapons and calls for jihad at the same time to women and minors," he told Radio France Info.
