Kazakhstan has recovered 63 children from the conflict zones in Iraq and Syria, the deputy chairman of Kazakhstan's national security committee, Nurgali Belisbekov, said Tuesday.
"Sixty-three children have been repatriated to the motherland and another 50 children are expected to arrive in the country," Kazetag quoted Kazakhstan as saying at the session of the Senate Committee on International Relations, Defense and Security.
"There are currently 360 children under the age of 16 years are still in Iraq and Syria, including 214 boys and 176 girls, and there is no doubt that we do a great job to rehabilitate these children."
"With regard to some amendments to the laws against extremism and terrorism, the National Security Council does not guarantee the reliability of these figures," Belisbekov said.
"These numbers can not be confirmed or denied. Most of these children live in areas of active conflict in Syria and Iraq. We can not say with certainty whether all these children are still alive," he said.
Earlier, Kazakhstan had announced that it had more than 300 members fighting alongside terrorist gangs in Iraq and Syria. Ending / 25 z
