DAMASCUS, (SANA) - Syrian President Bashar al-Assad has criticized France for "supporting terrorism," saying he has no right to talk about peace in his country.
"From the very beginning, France was spearheading the support of terrorism in Syria and its hands are soaked with Syrian blood from the early days, and we do not see that they have changed their position radically so far," Assad said of several Paris positions that accused Damascus of blocking efforts to settle the conflict. According to the official Syrian news agency (SANA).
Assad said that the French "are not in a position or position that holds a conference that is supposed to be a peace conference," stressing that "those who support terrorism are not entitled to talk about peace, except that they are not entitled to interfere in Syrian affairs mainly."
Assad's remarks came after French President Emmanuel Macaron said that he needed to speak to Bashar and his representatives, stressing that this would not exempt him from being held accountable for his crimes against his people before the international judiciary, as he put it.
