    Information / follow-up ...
Gold prices settled on Friday, near a two-week high after US data on GDP, jobless claims and corporate activity did not change investors' views on the stability of the economy and had little impact on the dollar.
Spot gold rose 0.18 percent to $ 1267.83 an ounce late in the US session, extending for the fifth session in a row and having earlier hit the highest level since Dec. 6 at $ 1268.26.
Among other precious metals, the price of palladium climbed to the highest level since February 2001 at $ 1038.99 an ounce before cutting its gains to 1.13 percent at $ 1036.70 late in trading. The metal is heading to end the year on gains of more than 50 percent, supported by expectations of a shift in demand from diesel-powered cars to paddium-powered cars in exhaust purifiers.
Silver fell 0.27 percent to $ 16.13 an ounce after jumping in the previous session to a two-week high of $ 16.25.
Platinum fell 0.33 percent to $ 915.50 an ounce, after hitting a record high on Dec. 5.
