    The Qatari embassy in Ankara has commented on reports published by Turkish newspapers about "thwarting a coup attempt against Emir of the country" Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani and protecting his headquarters in Doha by Turkish troops.
    "Turkey has banned the coup d'état in Qatar," the Qatari embassy in Ankara wrote in a statement posted on its Twitter Web site. In particular, with regard to the existence of a country request from the Turkish side to secure protection from the coup on the night of 5 June 2017.
    "The matter of assigning Turkish special forces or Turkish soldiers to protect the Emir's residence is baseless," the embassy said.
    "With regard to attempts to escalate the Gulf crisis militarily by the countries of the blockade against the State of Qatar, there is no doubt that the political and diplomatic efforts of many allies and friends in the region and around the world have contributed to the prevention of military escalation, Turkish ".
